10 Things To Expect From CM Punk's UFC Debut

7. Expect A Different Look, Physically

For pro wrestling, a fair amount of bulk is necessary. That's just how the business is - the bigger you are, the more notice you get. CM Punk isn't a particularly big guy, but he was still walking around with over 200lbs on him. It wasn't that he was fat or anything, it was just the body type that suited the WWE. Once he started training full time for his MMA venture, the pounds started coming off. More time spent at cardio, and less on the weights, will do that. Suddenly, Punk, who was walking around at about what a light heavyweight would, was looking at middleweight (185lbs) or even welterweight (170lbs). Early training photos show a vastly different physique for Punk, and it's not surprising for those who understand the differences between the two professions. Punk will likely be a little quicker without the extra bulk, and it should only help his gas tank - which was always solid in his pro wrestling days.
