Don't expect CM Punk's debut to consist of a shock knockout win, a la Holly Holm or Conor McGregor, or countless other UFC stoppages. Simply put, in his first fight, with no amateur experience, Punk isn't going to have that killer instinct. Beyond that, no matter how hard he has trained, he will likely take a more cautious approach. This is a marathon, not a sprint, for Punk. If he's taking this seriously, he should be looking at multiple fights in the octagon. As highlight reel friendly as rushing in and swarming an opponent would be, it's an ill-advised approach for the best fighters (just ask Jose Aldo). Punk's smarter than that. While he may score a KO win some day, it likely won't be in his first fight, especially given that striking is the area he has the least amount of experience in. Sorry, fans - Punk's first fight, should he win it, will likely be by submission or decision.
