10 Things We Learned From Bad News Barrett On Talk Is Jericho

5. NXT

Chris Jericho recounts the position he took in his most recent book of being deadset against participating in the first season of NXT due to the increased workload. He asks Wade how it was pitched, and the talent's original understanding was that it was going to be an American Idol-type show for wrestlers. Their biggest concern was that there would be constant filming with cameras following them around like Total Divas and none of them wanted that. The wrestlers weren't told that they would have to compete in all the strange challenges and obstacle courses and were not at all impressed with the show. Both he and Jericho remark how it felt like they were taking the p*ss out of it with all the antics, and it was probably designed to humble the contestants. Barrett was excited to find out he was paired up with an experienced and talented heel in Jericho, which leads to the two recounting their first meeting when Y2J got irritated because he couldn't find Wade, since he introduced himself as Stu.
