10 Things We Learned From Bad News Barrett On Talk Is Jericho

4. First Appearance On TV

When Chris Jericho squared off against Daniel Bryan on NXT - a match that angered Y2J because he was told he wouldn't have to actually wrestle during his time on the show - unbeknownst to Chris that was Barrett's first appearance on WWE TV. The then-World champ calls for a mic and gives over to his protege to introduce him. Unfortunately Barrett was mid-daydream and overcome with the moment and didn't expect to be handed a microphone. He takes the mic and just starts unleashing a promo about himself, at which point Jericho pats him on the shoulder and quietly informs him he just asked him to introduce him. Wade recounts a challenge where he got the word "wind" and had to craft a promo around it, and thanks to his ability to tie in the phrase "winds of change" was able to knock it out of the park and receive praise from his more experienced peers. He cites that as a real confidence booster and the moment where he felt like he won NXT.
