10 Things We Learned From Brock Lesnar's UFC 200 Victory

8. Lesnar's Striking Is Still Subpar

Not everything was wine and roses for Brock Lesnar at UFC 200. Sure, he picked up a three round unanimous decision victory over one of the toughest fighters in the UFC heavyweight division, but it's clear he has some work to do.

Not surprisingly, the work that needs to be done is in the striking department. Lesnar's striking looked even shakier than it did in past outings, with his jab winding up being more of a push, to the point that ref Dan Mirragliotta warned him about his open hands during the course of the fight (to be fair, it didn't appear eye pokes were actually an issue, and the ref was just being proactive). Lesnar did land some leg kicks, which seemed to surprise the UFC announce team of Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan, but that's something Lesnar did in his original UFC run. However, he could have used them more, as it's one area he's not all that bad in.

The rest of his stand-up, however, both the jab and beyond, was sloppy. His punches lacked any sort of crispness, and were of the looping, ugly variety when the fight was standing. Lesnar did manage to keep his distance prior to his shots in, but he could have much more effectively used his striking and reach advantage.

Of course, there's no doubt Brock Lesnar knows this. After the fight, he noted "I've got some work to do, but don't we all?"
