9. Savage & Steamboat Were Kept Apart Deliberately At 'Mania IV

One year before he became WWF Champ, Randy was dropping the Intercontinental Title to Ricky Steamboat at WrestleMania III. The match has since become a classic, inspiring the likes of Chris Jericho to follow his dreams and become a wrestler. Come 'Mania IV though, there was no chance of a rematch between Savage and Steamboat.

By that point, Savage had turned babyface, so the WWF's creative minds were keen to keep him away from other good guys. When the brackets for the championship tournament at 'Mania IV were put together, Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson very carefully ensured that Savage wouldn't come face-to-face with Steamboat again.

Good on them, because putting a popular (and established) face like The Dragon in there against Randy may have taken away from any cheers for the Macho Man. Fans would never get that big rematch either, because Steamboat was gone from the promotion by the time Savage turned baby and wasn't as high up the card when he returned in 1991.
