9. Buff Shot His Dad
This actually happened.
Steve and Buff's mother Judy found their marriage on the rocks, and Judy wanted to leave. Daddy dearest said that wouldn't be happening in one of his cars, so Marcus/Buff (he'll be referred to as both here) got in between them and ended up in a tense standoff with his own father.
Both men had guns, but Buff warned Steve he didn't plan to use his. Furthering his cause for 'Father Of The Year' votes, Steve then grabbed a shotgun and Marcus shot him in the hand. Later, dad said he understood because his son was only protecting his mother during a distressing situation.
Buff told VICE's producers that this is all water under the bridge. He and Steve were able to put the incident behind them (?!) and have been "best friends ever since". Wow. This was a lot of family drama to deal with at a very young and impressionable age.
