10 Things We Learned From Dark Side Of The Ring: The Ultimate Warrior
2. There’s Zero Mention Of Steroids
VICE's film has some notable omissions.
Firstly, there's no mention of steroid use or controversy at all. The doc skims through Warrior's WWF Title run and departure from the company in 1991, then picks things back up around the time he returned in 1996. There's no chatter about his WrestleMania VIII comeback either.
Maybe VICE thought the steroid story had been told ad nauseam. If so, then it doesn't quite add up that they merrily danced back over old ground on other topics. Also, Warrior had one of the most-obviously enhanced physiques in all of pro wrestling during his pomp. You'd think they'd want to broach that side of things even a little.
Nope, it was never brought up. The most shocking thing about this is that Cornette, or someone similar, could've used that as another stick to beat Warrior with during their talking heads parts. VICE must've decided that it wasn't worth the hassle, or maybe time constraints meant some steroid chat got cut out of the documentary.
