10 Things We Learned From Dark Side Of The Ring: WWE's Plane Ride From Hell
5. Flair Escaped Punishment
One has to feel sorry for Jim Ross throughout this 'Dark Side Of The Ring' episode. The iconic WWE and current AEW announcer made it very clear at the start of the broadcast that he doesn't like talking about the 'Plane Ride From Hell'. Reliving it with a weary sigh has become all-too-commonplace for the legend.
Ross will, however, always be honest.
After digging into the Ric Flair drama, VICE's producers rightly asked why the 'Nature Boy' wasn't included in any of the punishments Vince McMahon doled out when the plane landed. Curt Hennig and Scott Hall were fired, and WWE handed out hefty fines to many others for their part in the agonising trip, but Ric got off lightly.
JR said that's a "good question" and went on to call Flair a "made man". In other words, he got away with everything because he's Ric Flair. People had become so numb to his antics by 2002, and that included the aforementioned public penis windmilling.
Yikes!
