Believe it or not, but so often in the world of film and TV, the people creating a certain project are not necessarily fans of the genre or of the topic being addressed. Shocking, I know.

Thankfully, both Jason Eisener (left) and Evan Husney (right) are massive, massive wrestling nerds.

Just from watching the first episode of the first season of Dark Side of the Ring, audiences realised that this was far from just some run-of-the-mill documentary merely designed to exploit the more controversial moments in professional wrestling history. Instead, this is a series that comes across as a ridiculously researched, heavily detailed, multi-angle covering true labour of life.

From speaking to Evan, his fandom goes back to the days of Sgt. Slaughter's time as an Iraqi sympathiser, to the Big Boss Man cracking skulls, and then into Paul Heyman's ECW, the Attitude Era, and beyond.

Considering that Dark Side of the Ring is a show that is by its very nature going to draw in passionate wrestling fans, those same fans are going to be naturally curious as to who is behind the series and pulling the strings - and on that front, we can all rest assured that in Evan Husney and Jason Eisener we have two long-standing fans who are doing their best to shine a spotlight on stories that have yet to be told, or bring fresh details to other more familiar topics.

On that note, Evan obviously also gets extra brownie points for sporting a truly badass Tony Atlas-drawn Harley Race t-shirt during our time chatting to him.
