On the 11 October 2016 edition of SmackDown, little James Ellsworth was booked to beat one of the best pro wrestlers in the world. Earlier in the day, others had told him what the plans were, but Ellsworth thought they were full of crap. He didn't even believe it when AJ walked up with a smile and said they'd be doing business.

To James, this was just the locker room's way of ribbing the new guy. He didn't dare get excited just incase, and that tickled Dean Ambrose. When Ambrose, who was working as the bout's guest referee, repeated that it was happening and took Ellsworth to meet with the writers, things began to sink in.

For the first time in his short WWE run, James was scared.

To an independent wrestler who had been around the past 15 years, AJ Styles was king. Just standing in the ring opposite AJ gave Ellsworth goosebumps, and he admitted to Jericho he didn't get comfortable with the idea of it until a few weeks in.
