5. “I Wanna Talk To Stone Cold”
Lita suffered a broken neck whilst doing some stunt work on the Dark Angel TV show in April 2002. The injury was particularly harrowing to her because it didn't happen in-ring (she deemed it totally avoidable on Austin's show). Doctors immediately told the distressed wrestler that she'd have to have emergency surgery.
Oh, but she wouldn't be able to wrestle again if she had it.
Panicking, Lita said: "I wanna talk to Stone Cold". Austin advised that she should go down to San Antonio instead and see Dr. Youngblood. Steve later took charge of the situation and drove Lita down there himself - she felt safe and in good hands 'cause he'd been through neck hell himself.
Bless Austin for being so proactive when Lita was terrified. She badly needed that sort of guidance, and his kindness formed a bond between the pair which still exists to this day. Their rapport was obvious from the off on the WWE Network/Peacock show.
