2. Vampiro's Love/Hate Relationship With Wrestling

Despite being an icon of professional wrestling to so many, Nail in the Coffin shows Ian Hodgkinson's relationship with the wrestling business as being very much a love/hate one.

Even though wrestling has given so much to Ian and his family, and he himself has given so much to wrestling, this is a man who is forever at odds with what he does for a living.

As Hodgkinson explains:

"I don’t want to be there. I love producing, I love being behind the camera and writing and moving the cameras, but when I have to put the wrestling gear on and I’ve got to go into the ring, it kills me. It kills me because I don’t love it anymore. That relationship’s over, and it breaks my heart. I love the fans, I love my industry, but I don’t love being Vampiro at all. I don’t wanna be this guy anymore, I don’t want it, but I’ll continue to go until I just can’t."

It's shown at several points that Hodgkinson does what he does for one simple reason: to provide for his daughter Dasha.

To give an idea of his schedule, The Fall and Rise of Vampiro takes place at a time where Ian's weekly schedule was travelling between Mexico and Los Angeles Thursday to Monday, then returning home to Dasha in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada for a couple of days before doing it all over again.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010. In addition to his current WhatCulture role of Senior Content Producer, Andrew previously spent nearly a decade as Online Editor and Lead Writer for the world's longest-running genre publication, Starburst Magazine, and his work has also been featured on BBC, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, WhatToWatch, Sportkskeeda, and various other outlets, in addition to being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic. Between his main dayjob, his role as the lead panel host of Wales Comic Con, and his gig as a pre-match host for Wrexham AFC games, Andrew has also carried out a hugely varied amount of interviews, from the likes of Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Adrienne Barbeau, Rob Zombie, Katharine Isabelle, Leigh Whannell, Bruce Campbell, and Tony Todd, to Kevin Smith, Ron Perlman, Elijah Wood, Giancarlo Esposito, Simon Pegg, Charlie Cox, the Russo Brothers, and Brian Blessed, to Kevin Conroy, Paul Dini, Tara Strong, Will Friedle, Burt Ward, Andrea Romano, Frank Miller, and Rob Liefeld, to Bret Hart, Sting, Mick Foley, Ricky Starks, Jamie Hayer, Britt Baker, Eric Bischoff, and William Regal, to Mickey Thomas, Joey Jones, Phil Parkinson, Brian Flynn, Denis Smith, Gary Bennett, Karl Connolly, and Bryan Robson - and that's just the tip of an ever-expanding iceberg.
