10 Things We Learned From Nail In The Coffin: The Fall And Rise Of Vampiro

1. First And Foremost, Ian Hodgkinson Is A Doting Dad

It kinda goes without saying that the most important thing to so many fathers is the happiness of their offspring. With Ian Hodgkinson, the biggest take-home from Nail in the Coffin is just how much he adores his daughter Dasha.

Whether it's archived footage of Ian taking a young Dasha to gym class, old footage of the pair at the park, welling up at Dasha's graduation, or just the two hanging out at home, Hodgkinson's love for his daughter is beautiful to see.

Forget the violent actions of Vampiro, forget the legacy of one of Mexican wrestling's greatest names, all of that means nothing in comparison to the bond between Ian and Dasha.

Vampiro's broadcast colleague and friend Matt Striker likely sums all of this up best.

"The one thing that no one understands is that, underneath all this, he’s a dad. I’m sorry, but to see the way that he loves his daughter, to see all of the machismo and the bravado just melt away – that’s the person I’m friends with. The Vampiro the world sees? They can have him. It’s the guy that’s here [Striker points to Vampiro's heart], that’s what to me is the measure of a man. I tell you [Vampiro] this all the damn time, you’re a good dad, you do good things. You talk about what you’ve done in this world? You made a daughter that’s going to grow up to be a beautiful woman and you’ve spread positive energy to people – even though you’re definitely insane. You’re a good dad."

Nail in the Coffin: The Fall and Rise of Vampiro is released on VOD and Blu-ray September 8.
