To say the Nick Aldis we see today is vastly different to the Nick Aldis we saw in IMPACT Wrestling would be a huge understatement. Whilst Aldis under his real name and under his Magnus moniker had some impressive moments in TNA, the former TNA World Heavyweight Champion is on a completely different level these days.

According to Nick himself, long-time friend Marty Scurll has not just been a perfect foil over the years, but the Villain played a pivotal part in Aldis reinventing himself as the performer we now see with the National Wrestling Alliance strapped to his back.

Aldis revealed that he and Marty regularly run ideas by each other, and that it was Scurll's example of making himself a huge star that inspired Nick to do the same.

On that inspiration, "Marty, he had all this time trying to crack stuff, and he had had this epiphany like, 'I've got to stop waiting for someone else to make me a star, I've got to make myself a star.' So he created the Villain character, and he did these vignettes with James Musselwhite."

Setting upon the task of making himself a star, it was then that Aldis realised, "Okay, Magnus is dead, but the problem is that Nick Aldis is green as sh*t, Nick Aldis doesn't know who he is.'"

It was from there that Nick Aldis sought the advice of Scurll, and it's safe to say that the end result of the National Treasure we now see standing atop the NWA has definitely proved successful for Nick.
