10 Things We Learned From Ryback's First Podcast

1. Vince McMahon Promised Ryback Would Be World Champion & Top Heel

Remember how Ryan mentioned that on numerous occasions Vince McMahon lied to him? Well, the AJ vs. Ryback WrestleMania squash match was nothing in comparison to what McMahon had previously promised the Big Guy, at least according to Reeves. The biggest lie came when Vince told Ryan that he was going to make Ryback the WWE Champion and the company's top heel.

While no one knows whether this is 100% true or not (besides Ryan Reeves and Vince McMahon), it's a complaint that we've heard many times before by many former WWF and WWE talents. It's also a notion that is believable given Vince McMahon's proclivity for pushing the muscled-up, big guys and few are as big and muscular as Ryback.

Also, Ryback was definitely pushed, at times, like a monster character capable of being a true headliner both as a babyface in late 2012 and as a heel in mid-2013.

According to Reeves, all he needed to do was to follow what Vince said and read his promos "word for word" as Vince wrote them.

Obviously, it was a crushing blow to Ryback once he realised that Vince's promise was not going to come true, despite following his direction to the tee. Needless to say, it was ultimately a severance to the trust factor as how could Ryan truly believe anything Vince said after that?

Regardless of the reasoning, Ryback felt betrayed and, if true, it played no small role in his decision to leave the company.
