1. 'One More Match' Still Falls On Deaf Ears

After losing to the Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVI, Shawn Michaels retired from active in-ring competition. He has stayed true to this in the six years since, despite the pleas of the fans to return for one last match. He has appeared sporadically on the shows and even been physically involved, but one last match still alludes him.

Early on in the podcast Michaels confirms that this is very much still the case. HBK claims not to miss the wrestling industry, and has no desire to return to the ring for one last dance.

He makes the excellent point that giving everything you have is something of a ridiculous point of view, that it is important to leave something left in the tank.

Shawn Michaels may very well be the goal in modern professional wrestling. His career was unparalleled, winning championships and accolades wherever he went and gaining the respect of his peers over a long period of time.

He is regarded by many as the greatest of all-time, and managed to retire relatively healthy and at the top of his game.

Here's hoping those ears remain hard of hearing.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
