April 15, 2020 is a day that has gone done in infamy amongst wrestling fans, for that was the date that WWE began its mass releases that involved talent, referees, producers, office staff, and other employees. In amongst those releases, was Orlando Colón.

As mentioned, Orlando was expecting his WWE release way back in 2017. So when it finally came to be that his time with WWE was at an end, Colón wasn't at all surprised.

We've heard varying stories on just how WWE went about informing people of their release, and so we asked Orlando how this situation played out for him on April 15.

Recapping that day, "It was a Wednesday morning, I was taking my son for a walk around the neighbourhood, and I get a text. 'Make sure you watch Vince's video, because he has a message for everybody.' I watched the video, and it's exactly verbatim how it came out online, word by word. After I saw that video I knew I was going to get the call in the next half-hour or 40 minutes. About two hours later, I'm playing with my son and I get the text. 'We need to talk, pal. Please call me back.' I knew what was going to happen. I can't get bitter. I was there for ten years. I thanked them for the time."

At the end of that call, it was said to Colón how both parties could hopefully do business down the line - meaning we may yet see Orlando Colón compete again for WWE at some point in the future.
