10 Things We Learned From William Regal On Talk Is Jericho (Part 2)

5. How He Helped Jon Moxley

Jon Moxley was one of the first guys that Regal really helped in his new role.

The veteran attended an FCW showcase put on by developmental trainers, and he was taken by Mox straight away; Regal admitted that he had done a bit of homework on Jon, and knew he'd click as a character if he had the freedom to do things on his own terms.

Once the showcase was done, trainers asked for feedback from Regal and Triple H. William spotted Moxley sitting in the corner and knew he hadn't really turned any heads with his match, so he asked to hear Jon cut a promo. To put it into perspective, Moxley had stood out so little that some of the trainers didn't even know who Regal was talking about!

William told Jericho that he's not sure whether or not Joey Mercury, who was a higher-up in developmental at the time, would've hired Mox or Seth Rollins that day without intervention. Stop to think about that for a second. Regal wasn't bashing Mercury, but it does show how different WWE's outlook was back in 2010-2011.
