10 Things We Learned From WWE 365: AJ Styles

6. One Person In WWE Had AJ Pegged As A Midcarder

In the aftermath of ending Jinder Mahal's desultory WWE Championship reign, a sweaty AJ speaks passionately about his rise through the company - and it doesn't quite reflect reality:

"When I came into the WWE, it wasn't like, 'That's our superstar!' That wasn't the way it was."

Wasn't it? AJ, unlike the vast majority of transplants from outwith the company, skipped NXT entirely, making a spectacular debut at Royal Rumble 2016 where he was treated like a ready made star. Within the space of eight months, he was already WWE champ.

AJ remembers things differently - and even makes the sensational claim that "at least one person" in the back had him pegged as a mid-carder. He didn't name names, the absolute tease.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
