10 Things We Learned From WWE Chronicle: Dean Ambrose
1. Dean And Seth Didn't Know About Roman's Illness
The documentary takes a wrong turn when it glosses over the very real emotional turmoil caused by Roman Reigns' cancer recurrence to push the nonsense narrative of Dean's eventual heel turn. Roman's situation - and the very genuine emotion it causes - contrasts drastically with Ambrose's dilemma over going it alone, and it's difficult to care about the storyline considerations after it - or Dean's tenuous reasons.
It's entirely understandable if Dean asked for the cameras to be shut off upon hearing the news; it clearly hits him and Seth Rollins like a ton of bricks. In a candid backstage conversation, the pair make plain that neither of them had any idea about Roman's illness before the night - and they're not really sure what to do with themselves. It's legitimately upsetting stuff, making the subsequent tonal shift to wrestling angles seem totally trivial.
