10 Things We Never Thought We’d See In A WWE Ring (But Somehow Did)

2. Sting

If ever there was a star who seemed destined to stay away from all things WWE it was the 'Icon' Sting.

He was Mr. WCW and one of the many top names who didn't decide to immediately jump ship in the wake of the company's demise. The former WCW World Heavyweight Champion also managed to stay out of Vince McMahon's grasps long after the arrivals of the nWo, Ric Flair and Goldberg in WWE.

Sting instead chose to add to his CV elsewhere and went on to become one of the integral parts of WWE's only other rival of sorts in TNA/Impact Wrestling. But, that all changed in 2014 when 'Stinger' suddenly left Impact Wrestling and decided that the time was finally right to step into McMahon's world.

As all good shock appearances tend to start out these days, Sting was suddenly announced as a pre-order playable character on the upcoming WWE 2K15 video game.

Could it be?

Were we about to see the long awaited emergence of WCW's 'Vigilante' on WWE programming?

Those questions were answered at that year's Survivor Series when Sting unbelievably showed up to thwart 'The Authority's plans.

This wrestling legend had spent his entire career happily on the outside looking in, so his improbable appearance in the ring opposite Triple H felt like a fantasy match-up straight out of the game he'd so recently been made available on.
