10 Things WWE Are Getting Absolutely Right

9. The Mae Young Classic

We're only four shows into the Mae Young Classic, but WWE's long-awaited women's tournament is off to a solid start. Each of the first few episodes included at least one highlight match, and while there were a couple of noticeable problems (the commentary, for one), the tourney should only improve from here on out.

The talent pool isn't as deep as last year's Cruiserweight Classic, but the likes of Kairi Sane, Shayna Baszler, and Toni Storm already feel like big stars. Most of the first round matches were quick, easy watches, with only a handful falling short of expectations. The presentation is as slick and professional as ever, with the CWC's expository video packages making a welcome return, and small touches like the pre-match handshakes giving the MYC a "real sport" feel.

No tournament peaks in the first round, and now that the bulk of the competition's lesser wrestlers have been eliminated, the Mae Young Classic should take flight. WWE deserve congratulations for crafting another enjoyable tournament, and signing a handful of the MYC's standout performers could keep their women's division well stocked for at least the next 2-3 years.
