10 Things WWE Can Learn From NJPW Dominion
8. They're Not Missing Anything With Cody
If there was a sore spot on the Dominion show, it was the involvement of Cody (formerly Cody Rhodes/Stardust). With his third major singles match in New Japan, Cody failed to impress anyone, and while he defeated world-class bruiser Michael Elgin in Elgin's first New Japan appearance in a while, he didn't work up to the former ROH Champion's level - rather, he dragged "Big Mike" down to his.
It got worse. After the amazing main event, Kazuchika Okada was delivering a press conference when he was interrupted by Cody. The former WWE Intercontinental Champion spit beer in Okada's face before challenging him to a title match, so that's been signed as the main event for the first evening of G1 Special in USA.
The more Cody wrestles in New Japan, the more apparent it is that WWE wasn't holding him back. In fact, they were probably doing him a favor by keeping him from jawing with the audience and blowing kisses between every spot. I doubt they're lamenting his departure from the company.
