10 Things WWE Can Learn From Wrestle Kingdom 12

8. Long-Term Booking

The booking in NJPW, at least as regards the IWGP Heavyweight Title, never fails to fall in in line with what you might refer to as conventional and logically-sound decision-making.

Two years ago, it was Kazuchika Okada who took the mantle of leading man from Hiroshi Tanahashi at the third attempt; now, it seems Tetsuya Naito - who came up just short against Okada at WK 12's main event - is being groomed for the same role.

Put simply, the company is never sitting still. It is forever prepared for the possibility that Okada, currently its top guy, could get struck down with injury or request a lengthy holiday or, worse still, decide to take up an offer from Vince McMahon. They always have someone else equally qualified waiting in the wings.

Compare that to WWE and things seem altogether more chaotic, a point best illustrated by the scramble to crown a new franchise player that has followed the sudden realisation that John Cena won't be around forever. Four years on and we're still waiting for Roman Reigns to realise all that potential.
