This week, WWE fans have been buzzing about Billie Kay, and for good reason - the 27-year-old native of Sydney, Australia made her main roster debut on Smackdown, taking on Dana Brooke in a losing effort.

But who is the NXT grappler who's been getting all the press? Even though she's been a part of WWE's roster for over a year, she's gotten a surprisingly small amount of TV time and focus.

Nevertheless, the SHIMMER alumna, who competed under her real name of Jessie McKay prior to joining WWE, has racked up an impressive body of work in her nine years in the industry. From Australia to the U.S., in promotions on both sides of the Pacific, Kay has built up the sort of résumé that gets WWE's attention. Now she's in the big leagues, wrestling on Smackdown.

Kay is likely to work her way up to becoming a major player in WWE in the years to come, if her past is any indication.

Here are 10 things WWE fans need to known about Billie Kay...

10. She Went To School With Peyton Royce

Billie Kay isn't the only WWE superstar from Sydney, Australia. Joining her is fellow NXT roster member Peyton Royce, and not only are the two women from the same city, but they actually went to high school together.

The two women are friends who not only knew each other (and loved wrestling) growing up, but also broke into the business together. Both Kay and Royce got their first dose of wrestling training at the school associated with Australian promotion Pro Wrestling Alliance. Royce would go on to further training at Lance Storm's Storm Wrestling Academy.

Both women were also signed at the same time. When WWE toured Australia in 2014, Kay and Royce were both part of a two-day tryout involving 40 wrestlers. The test was a grueling one, filled with matches and drills, but both women obviously impressed the right people - they were soon offered WWE contracts and joined the roster.
