Much of Billie Kay's pre-WWE work came in PWWA and SHIMMER, but she didn't only compete for women-exclusive promotions. When coming to the U.S., she actually wrestled for some of the country's top independent groups, such as Ring of Honor, Combat Zone Wrestling, and Chikara.

Kay came to CZW in 2008, wrestling her first match outside of Australia. She wrestled in mixed gender competition, taking on the likes of Sami Callihan, DJ Hyde, and once again, Madison Eagles.

Kay wrestled two ROH matches that same year, taking on future SHIMMER opponent Sara Del Ray and Daizee Haze. Today, Del Ray works at WWE's Performance Center, helping prepare the next generation of female talent - a role that has undoubtedly reunited her with Kay.

Finally, Kay had a CHIKARA match in 2008, teaming with The Colony to take on Crossbones, Ryan Eagles, and (of course) Madison Eagles. She came back to CHIKARA in 2011, wrestling Kana, who now competes in NXT as Asuka.
