10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Buddy Landel

4. Wrestled Bret Hart For The WWE Title

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6tqf6_bret-vs-buddy_sport Buddy Landel debuted in then WWF the very same day as one of the biggest names in pro wrestling history - Stone Cold Steve Austin. It was December 5th, 1995. Of course, back then, Austin wasn't Stone Cold, but The Ringmaster, and was still relatively unknown. At the time, Landel was picked by some to be every bit the talent, if not more so, than Austin was - and he arguably had more prestige. Soon enough, The Nature Boy Buddy Landel - who was still wearing his blonde locks, and even using Ric Flair's old walkout music - was wrestling for the title. That came against Bret Hart, in a televised match (WWF Superstars of Wrestling) that aired January 13, 1996. Landel would lose the match, however, and never really come that close to the WWF/E title ever again.
