4. Hero Is A World Record Holder

The longest match in WWE history took place back in 1964, when Bruno Sammartino and Waldo Von Erich wrestled an 81-minute curfew-imposed draw at Madison Square Garden. It stood as the longest wrestling match of all-time until Antonio Inoki and Masa Saito broke it with a 125-minute NJPW deathmatch in 1987, but if that isn’t long enough for you, Chris Hero went one better in June 2015.

Competing for Canada’s Smash Wrestling, Hero came up with the ultimate charity match. He decided to wrestle 30 minutes for every $500 raised, and after raising a total of $3,440, Chris Hero worked a 3-hour, 10 mins gauntlet match against nine separate opponents, including current WWE Cruiserweight Champion Rich Swann.

The match ended when Tarik, who’d already “lost” to Hero three times within the match, demanded 10 more minutes, and even pledged $180 of his own money to take it handy. Those last few minutes ticked away before Tarik struck Hero with the Smash Wrestling Championship, for the 1, 2, 3, securing the victory in this epic match.

Coming in at roughly the same length as the average WWE pay-per-view, it’s a wonder Hero was even able to stand by the end, let alone answer Tarik’s final challenge.
