5. Putting Kalisto Over

Is there a bigger heat sink in all of professional wrestling than Alberto Del Rio? Here's a guy who was fired for an altercation with an office employee, spent some time in Lucha Underground putting in acclaimed work where it seemed he'd regained his fire and motivation, and then came back to WWE with a massive contract and an overdose of complacency. What the company sees in this guy I'll never know because the fans don't care about him at all, yet he was the chosen one effectively answer the John Cena open challenge and they've had him run with the US title for longer than expected. He briefly traded it with Kalisto for a week but it was time to go in a different direction. As far as the Lucha Dragon is concerned, Kalisto is apparently the promotion's handpicked successor to Rey Mysterio, and if that's the case it's time to start building him up. The match had some definite problems as there were several blown spots that both men can be faulted for, but Kalisto is a thrilling worker with some innovative offense that will captivate the fans if he's put in the position to succeed. He may never reach the level that Mysterio did, but he can definitely be a worthy successor. Now let's just hope he doesn't lose the belt back to Del Rio on the post-Rumble Raw...
