WWE Roadblock was a fine addition to the WWE calendar, filling the February to April gap with with a semi-special. It provided greater interest to Mania season, with the tease that Dean Ambrose's title shot against Triple H could force a Mania main event change. By creating the event, it also meant that WrestleMania wasn't the sole focus for weeks and weeks. Roadblock freshened things up, ensuring staleness wouldn't become a factor in the Mania build. And from a critical point of view, it was a great success. Dean Ambrose versus Triple H was arguably the match of the year so far, a heated narrative with top quality in ring action.
