10 Things WWE Raw: Day 1 Told Us About WrestleMania XL Season

WWE teased a massive match on Raw, but...will it happen at WrestleMania?

Do you smell what he's cooking?

San Diego certainly did. The booming live crowd roared with approval as The Rock verbally wrecked Jinder Mahal, and some in the front few rows will presumably have to get smiles surgically removed. Triple H brilliantly trolled the fans by first delivering Jinder as the "former WWE Champion" surprise, then bringing out Dwayne.

Johnson wasn't only there to give Mahal a People's Elbow and run through some old catchphrases though. No, Rocky was also into town to tease the ever-living-crap out of everyone by referencing Roman Reigns. It's anyone's guess whether or not that match, one which now seems closer than ever, happens at WrestleMania XL.

There was a lot to glean from Raw's Day 1 special about 'Mania season generally. The upcoming Royal Rumble PLE still has an air of mystery to it, which is welcome. Elsewhere, Money In The Bank dreams could crumble, and it's pretty clear that one of WWE's best stars needs something huge heading into April.

WrestleMania 40 might well be super-sized if this episode of the flagship was anything to go by.

10. WWE Should Abandon THIS Tag Run

Jey Uso and Kofi Kingston coming together as a one-off is fine, but they don’t need to be shoved together during ‘Mania season. Hopefully, their stoppage win over Imperium isn’t a sign of what’s coming, because Jey vs. Jimmy Uso is probably a must for ‘Mania. They've got their own story to finish.

Kofi isn't invited.

WWE has a tendency to shunt two wrestlers who don't have much going on individually together as a tag. Fans see that happen constantly over on the women's side, but it's kinda worrying if this is all Triple H's creative team has for guys like Jey and Kingston heading into the biggest quarter of the year.

Being honest, reactions were fairly lukewarm for the union anyway. Kofi, despite being a former WWE Champ and popular star overall, is currently a notch below someone like Uso on the roster. It might be an idea to move on from this quickly.
