10 Things WWE Regrets About Elimination Chamber

8. The Name

Taken on face value, "Elimination Chamber" is a pretty solid name for both a match type and pay-per-view event. As far as the former goes, it's a bunch of men or women inside a chamber, getting themselves eliminated, so... Elimination Chamber. As a pay-per-view name, it's exactly the kind of thing your weird 15-year-old goth cousin thinks sounds cool, which typically what WWE go for.

So far, so good, and certainly no problems.

But the name does cause issues outwith its English-language origins. This is particularly true in Germany, where WWE have had to change the name of the pay-per-view, stipulation, and the structure itself in order to avoid a huge brand blunder, as "Elimination Chamber" summons unwanted connotations with the gas chambers used during the Holocaust. So in Germany, WWE don't present "Elimination Chamber," but "No Escape."

WWE obviously had to change the name in Germany because those aren't the kind of allusions a company of their size needs, but maybe they could've saved all that trouble by just coming up with something different instead? "No Escape" is a better name, anyway.
