10 Things WWE Regrets About SummerSlam

Having wowed fans in their WrestleMania X ladder match, Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon once again competed in a ladder match for the Intercontinental Title at SummerSlam 1995.

But that wasn't always meant to be the case.

In the weeks prior to SummerSlam that year, one of the biggest rivalries on WWF television was that of Shawn Michaels vs. Sycho Sid. The Master and Ruler of the World blamed Michaels for costing him the WWF Championship in a match against Diesel, and so the big fella instead decided that he was going to take The Heartbreak Kid's Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam.

Less than two weeks before SummerSlam, all of this was changed-up so that Shawn would be defending his IC Title against Razor Ramon at the company's annual summer extravaganza.

Despite having invested plenty of TV time in Michaels vs. Sid, Vince McMahon and his trusted circle decided that the Diesel vs. King Mabel-headlined SummerSlam needed something extra added to the card. Remembering just how fantastic Shawn and Razor's 'Mania X ladder match was, the call was made to rehash that contest and have a rematch at SummerSlam '95.

For WWE, the regret here was going so hard with the Shawn vs. Sid advertising that ultimately was for nothing bar a one-and-done post-SummerSlam TV match between the pair.
