10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Bret Hart

1. He Did Promos Questioning Shawn Michaels' Sexuality

It's no surprise that another Shawn Michaels item is at the top of the list considering their tumultuous relationship over the years. This one goes back to 1997 when they could barely work with each other because of all the heat. Since Hart was a heel there were a lot of things he could say that were edgy that pushed the limits. Remember this was when WWE was really pushing the buttons during the Attitude Era. Leading up to their Survivor Series 1997 match, Hart delivered a promo on the October 6, 1997 edition of Raw (the night after Badd Blood 1997) while Michaels and his buddy Triple H were in the ring. "Shawn Michaels, you're nothing but a degenerate. And I think I know as the rest of the Hart Foundation knows, what the HHH stands for in HBK - you're nothing but a homo. And that guy there in the green shirt (Triple H) is nothing but a homo." Hunter quickly replied: "Oh I'm no queer." Hart also wondered how Shawn "bare-backed" his way to main eventing PPVs even when he wasn't the WWE Champion and said he made more money than all of them. He also referred to his other "boyfriends" Diesel and Razor that Bret claims to have run out of town. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E14H8d9Up8Q It wasn't the first time Hart questioned Michaels' sexuality because he had previously ripped Shawn for appearing in Playgirl magazine. It's a magazine that is aimed at homosexual men. Michaels apparently didn't know that when he posed in it. Michaels and Hunter are not gay. They're both married with kids. What's interesting about the comments is that Hart said years later that Michaels was okay with the homosexual comments. They figured it was good for heat. Calling somebody gay to try to put over a title match wasn't really necessary. It just felt like they wanted to take shots at each other, so that's what Bret did. There is absolutely no way WWE would ever allow those words used on their TV shows now. The times have changed, that's for sure and they have changed for the better. No need for that kind of thing in wrestling. Hart has a lot of things to be proud of in his career. Some of these promos against Michaels, particularly this one, was not something WWE wants us to remember fondly. That's for sure. That's it for this week's things WWE wants us to forget series.
