10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Paul Heyman
4. Not All "Paul Heyman Guys" Were Major Successes
If you look at the list of wrestlers that Paul Heyman has managed over the years the list is pretty long. When WWE talks about him they like to say that he is arguably the greatest manager of all time. That might be true thanks to the likes of Brock Lesnar, CM Punk and Cesaro, but there have definitely been some stinkers too. Heyman managed Jon Heidenreich in the second half of 2004. Since WWE loves bigger wrestlers they must have seen something in him, so they put Heyman as his manager and hoped he would turn into something special. That didn't happen. Not even close. He was a major flop especially when he feuded with Undertaker, who was unable to have a good match with him. Big Show was a Paul Heyman guy that was pretty successful since he won the WWE Title and ECW Title thanks to Heyman turning on somebody (Lesnar and RVD) to help him win. They don't mention that relationship too much, though. That's probably because they were just short term angles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnpBtWVUdqs Most recently, Heyman managed Curtis Axel and Ryback last year. Axel won the IC Title, but he wasn't really elevated by being a champion. Ryback was a "Heyman guy" for a brief period after saving Heyman from CM Punk at Night of Champions, but that relationship didn't last long since Heyman was taken out by Punk a month later. Remember when Heyman kissed Ryback on the cheek? Awkward. Whenever WWE shows Ryback and Axel today they don't even mention that they formed the team because they were former Heyman guys. It's something that WWE obviously wants to forget.
