It's not like he was going out there cutting promos ripping on the local sports team. They tried to turn him into this despicable jerk and figured they really needed to push the envelope with him. They had him do things like beating up his old friend Jim Ross simply because they knew JR was a beloved figure and the fans hated him for doing that. Not only did he beat him up, but he made him bleed too. Soon after that, they had Austin team up with his buddy Triple H and Stephanie McMahon to take on the Hardy Boys as well as Lita. After the match broke down, the heels beat up the Hardys and they were left to deal with Lita. Triple H nailed her with a Pedigree. Then Austin destroyed her with a steel chair. It wasn't just one chair shot. He hit her in the back multiple times and in the stomach too. Austin ended it with a Stone Cold Stunner. Obviously Lita was fine from it, but there's no way you're going to see WWE showing man on woman violence today. It would be interesting to see what would happen if this episode of Raw came up on WWE Network and how they would edit it. He even stunned the McMahon women Stephanie and Linda in his career.
