10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Stone Cold Steve Austin

3. He Did Actually Wrestle Hulk Hogan...In A Tag Match

At WrestleMania 30, Hulk Hogan started the show as the host of the event. He was interrupted by Steve Austin. The Rock followed and correctly mentioned that Austin and Hogan are the two biggest stars in WWE history. Something that WWE usually fails to mention is that Austin never had a match with Hogan. Austin has said that part of the reason it didn't happen was because he thought that it would be pretty bad just because Hogan was a shell of his former self in 2002. As an avid Austin podcast listener, I know that he's also mentioned that he regrets not pushing for a match with Hogan (likely at WrestleMania 18) because it would have done big business. Even though there wasn't an Austin vs. Hogan singles match, they did take part in a 2 on 3 handicap match on the March 11, 2002 edition of Raw that took place just six days before WrestleMania 18. Austin teamed up with The Rock to face Hogan along with his NWO buddies Scott Hall & Kevin Nash. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTLdKMs8_xM Austin took part in the second half of the match. He received the hot tag from Rock towards the end of the match and took it to Hall & Nash. Hogan stood on the apron for most of it. They were trying to protect him before the match with Rock at WrestleMania 18. Late in the match, Hogan tagged in and gave Austin a body slam. After some choking and punches, he tagged out. That was it. After Hogan pinned Rock with the leg drop, Austin attacked him with a barrage of punches, but then Austin got laid out by the NWO when it was over. It's fair to say that Austin vs. Hogan is the biggest match that never happened in WWE history. They had ao chance to do it, but they didn't and that should be considered a mistake on WWE's part.
