10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About SummerSlam
7. Michaels Vs. Sid Got Changed To Michaels Vs. Ramon Ladder Rematch At SummerSlam 1995
SummerSlam 1995 was a bad show. The main event of Diesel vs. Mabel is one of the worst PPV main events that WWE ever did. They knew it was a bad show too because they changed an advertised match. Shawn Michaels was the Intercontinental Champion in the summer of 1995. He also had a rivalry with Sid following WrestleMania 11 when Sid gave him several Powerbombs in a move that turned Michaels into a face. They were all set to face off in a match at SummerSlam that year to resolve their differences, but it didn't happen. It was advertised, though. The interim President of WWE (an on screen role) Gorilla Monsoon changed the match because he apparently did what the fans wanted. That's why he changed the match to a WrestleMania 10 rematch with Michaels defending the IC Title against his good friend Razor Ramon (also a babyface) in a ladder match. It turns out that it was the right decision. Michaels/Ramon in "Ladder Match Two" was an absolute classic and without that match on the show, SummerSlam 1995 would have been a lot worse.
