10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Bobby Lashley
8. His Big In-Ring Moment
WWE has not distanced themselves from Donald Trump, but it's telling that the company didn't celebrate his presidential reign, either.
WWE is thirsty when it comes to mainstream acceptance. The problem is that Trump, in a word, was divisive. To some, he is a welcome antidote to an impervious political guard. To others, he veered from complete embarrassment to clear and present danger, which is probably on the list of films he conflated with real life to help his self-perception as a tough action hero.
WWE, operating with an atypical sensitivity, stayed well away from their shared history so as to not alienate a certain percentage of its fanbase. It's unclear what that percentage is, but since Trump tended to spout this rather a lot, the answer, in his riddled mind, was "yooj".
WrestleMania 23 drew huge numbers.
But all of the above means that Lashley's supporting role in the box office powerhouse, something to brag about it, is something WWE will not brag about in 2021.
