10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Chris Jericho

5. Some Of His Best Matches Were With Chris Benoit

Chris Benoit's sparkling career will probably (definitely?) never get the credit it deserves from WWE again. Nobody can blame them for that. The circumstances behind Benoit's death were so depressing, shocking and negative that the mere mention of his name has become a big no-no in the company.

The unfortunate thing for Jericho here is that Benoit was one of his best friends and best opponents.

Matches on Raw, SmackDown and pay-per-views like Backlash 2000 and Royal Rumble 2001 were classics, and their ridiculously high quality was exactly the reason why both men were so sought-after in the first place. Don't expect to see them litter any Jericho 'Best Of' compilations though, or gain house room on the Network at all.

They're still there, of course, but none of Benoit's matches are accompanied by those handy little bookmark bubbles on the service. That's a shame, as the Jericho vs. Benoit matches once carried weight. People at the time knew they'd be a surefire dazzlers, and no-one could have predicted they'd later be sullied by tragedy.
