10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Goldust

9. He Was Fired For A Dangerous Spot

Mostly, Goldust is known for his exploits in front of the WWE cameras, but he's worked behind them too. In fact, he was apparently doing great work in his role as a producer on SmackDown - right up until his abrupt firing in 2012.

You're probably expecting something really salacious here; some big backstage indiscretion that brought shame on the company. But what's really remarkable about this story is how incredibly mundane the reasons (apparently) were for letting him go.

Basically, Goldust paid the ultimate price for a spot he booked in which Yoshi Tatsu (taking double powerbomb from Darren Young and Titus O'Neill) almost sustained a nasty injury.

Many wrestlers have been given their marching orders for seemingly minor infractions. Finlay, another producer, got fired for encouraging a wrestler to interrupt a rendition of the national anthem, but it seems particularly odd in this case. Surely all moves have the potential to go wrong. It's wrestling, not ballet.
