10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Jimmy Snuka

There'll never be another performer quite like the Superfly...

The re-reveal of Jimmy Snuka's 1983 murder charges in the case of the death of Nancy Argentino could very well see the legendary Superfly end up going to prison for the rest of his life. In a year that's seen Hulk Hogan wiped from WWE's history books, the same fate could befall Snuka. However, Snuka's history both in WWE and elsewhere, as so often with WWF, has been altered in so many ways that much is oftentimes forgotten. Here's a few facts about Jimmy Snuka not in this article. His career started in 1969. Snuka was originally a professional bodybuilder. Snuka broke in as a wrestler in Hawaii. He's the father of current WWE diva Tamina and ex-WWE performer Deuce/Sim Snuka. Aside from those facts, there's tons more about Snuka's career (aside from his current issues) that WWE has wanted us to forget at various points in history. Snuka's had a legendary and checkered past, and in diving into it, it's a fascinating bit of stuff that's well worth understanding. From wrestling Andre the Giant as a main eventer, a stint in rehab that occurred during one of his most legendary runs, that time he was ECW Champion and more, here are 10 things WWE probably wants us to forget about Jimmy Snuka...

10. Jimmy Snuka Had Already Wrestled For 13 Years Before Reaching The WWF In 1982

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3Ia5g1-hBI By the time Jimmy Snuka had arrived in the WWF in 1982, he was one of the more established territorial stars in pro wrestling. From Portalnd to the Mid-Atlantic and even tours of All Japan, Snuka was already well regarded in the eyes of professional wrestling fans. Snuka came to the WWF, and his (for the era) hyper-athletic style was seen as groundbreaking and unique. Snuka coming into the WWF as an unintelligent jungle savage managed by Captain Lou Albano is one of those times when wrestling fans likely had to be patient and know that the McMahons, even then, were laying the BS on pretty thick. Snuka didn't just pop into the WWF and know how to work and draw money with everyone out of the gate. He'd already long since honed that skill.
