Nitro, along with partner Joey Mercury and valet Melina, won the Tag-Team Titles from Eddie Guerrero & Rey Mysterio on the 18 April 2005 episode of SmackDown. It was a hot debut for the MNM trio, and it established them as a credible force instantly. Then, predictably, sh*t hit the fan.

Oooooooooooh, what a push (off the nearest cliff).

WWE decided that the Legion Of Doom incarnation nobody wanted should beat this dazzling new team and take their titles at the '05 Great American Bash. There, Nitro and Mercury were forced to do the J.O.B for an aging Animal and his clumsy partner John Heidenreich. Yes, it was as awful then as it sounds now.

MNM would win the belts back by October, but the damage had already been done. They were a new team (a good one) and they should never have been upended by an LOD reprise that was already causing purists to rip clumps of hair out.
