Earlier this year, people guffawed their way through reports that ex-indy wrecking balls War Machine were enduring weekly name changes. The Viking Raiders/Experience almost became a laughing stock due to WWE's indecisiveness, but they've since settled down. They weren't the first and they won't be the last.

Johnny Blaze/Spade/Nitro beat them to it.

When the future John Morrison first appeared on WWE screens in 2004, he was cast as Eric Bischoff's assistant and eventually given the Nitro name to reflect Bisch's time in charge of WCW. It was a clever nod towards the past, albeit one that didn't come before the company hurled things at a wall to see what might stick.

Sadly, they didn't keep running with the weekly deed poll switches. Fans were robbed of such delights as Johnny Thunder, Johnny Pro, Johnny WorldWide, Johnny Power Hour and Johnny Great American Bash. Actually, that last one regrettably drags up WWE's Bash revival...
