10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Maria Kanellis

5. Her History Of Bad Matches

Kanellis’ initial WWE run stretched from 2004 to 2010, but she wasn’t always a regular in-ring performer, working just 94 matches throughout her six-year tenure. She entered the company with zero in-ring experience, and it showed. Unfortunately, Maria was several levels below some of the wrestlers she shared a ring with, to the point where she actually stood out as a poor wrestler during a notoriously bad time for women’s wrestling in WWE.

She gradually improved through her run, but the bulk of Maria’s performances were characterised by botches and fumbles. If star ratings are your thing, she was part of two of the lowest rated matches in WWE history in New Year’s Revolution 2006’s Bra & Panties Gauntlet and SummerSlam 2007’s Divas Battle Royal, and rarely looked like anything other than a rank amateur between the ropes (which she was, in fairness).

Given the huge advancements that women’s wrestling has made over the past couple of years, don’t expect Maria to set foot in the ring anytime soon, and don’t expect to hear anything about her previous matches. For all her value as an on-air personality, Maria isn’t even in the same galaxy as Charlotte, Becky Lynch & co. when it comes to competing.
