Paige's main roster debut in April 2014 was certainly a shocking one. As NXT Women's Champion, she appeared on Raw the night after WrestleMania 30, congratulating AJ Lee on her title defence. The heel Divas Champion then slapped Paige, challenging her to an immediate match. Shockingly, the newcomer won in seconds. On the surface, this sounds like an immediately exciting angle - which it was, to an extent. However, it was held back by two major issues. Firstly, the finish of the match didn't go as smoothly as planned. Paige hit the Paige Turner (her finisher at the time), but the spot was slightly miscommunicated, and didn't generate the manoeuvre's usual impact. Secondly, Paige's personality didn't really get over at all. She initially strutted out as a heelish, cocksure upstart, only to become a nervous, underdog babyface the moment AJ issued her challenge. It seems a simple way of analysing it, but the whole segment can only really be described as weird. With these factors in mind, it's no real surprise that WWE have refrained from revisiting the moment in video packages and hype videos, even those directly concerning Paige's career.
