10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Dudley Boyz
4. Violence Against Women
WWE appears over recent years to have imposed a blanket ban on portrayals of men attacking women. The closest we came was that time Big Show was supposed to have "trampled" AJ Lee, even though the replays showed that he merely knocked her over, onto a surface that wrestlers regularly dive onto from inside the ring.
Back in the Attitude Era, however, it was pretty much commonplace - especially when the Dudley Boyz were in the ring. D-Von and, in particular, Bubba Ray enjoyed nothing more than powerbombing a member of the female locker room through a table.
Disturbingly, Bubba would then slip into what Michael Cole referred to as a "euphoric trance", such was the enjoyment he derived from perpetrating extreme violence against the opposite sex, most of the time completely unprovoked.
Of course, none of this was real - and, in fact, it was pretty impressive that the likes of Torrie Wilson and Stacy Keibler, who it would be generous to describe as wrestlers, actually agreed to take such high-risk bumps - but it's unlikely too many of these will be replayed in forthcoming best of packages.
