10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Shield

4. KO 'Em All

The Shield's midcard dominance was sealed with gold at Extreme Rules 2013, when Dean Ambrose became United States Champion early in the night, and Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins captured the Tag Team Titles later on. The duo embarked on a solid little run, fending-off unsuccessful challenges from duos like Team Hell No and The Usos, before eventually dropping the belts to Cody Rhodes and Goldust on an October 2013 episode of Raw.

Losing to the Rhodes brothers isn't a problem in itself, as they were a relatively hot act at the time, but the circumstances were dismal. Having already ran afoul of The Shield in previous weeks, the lowly Big Show decided to get involved with the match. He single-handled destroyed all three members, first blasting Ambrose and Reigns at ringside, before giving Rollins the same treatment after he'd dived out of the ring, triggering a distraction pin on Roman.

It was a lame way to end The Shield's run. Show had long outlived his use as a monster, even four years ago, and his knockout punch has never been a convincing finisher, yet WWE opted to have him put Ambrose and Rollins to sleep.
