10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Undertaker

10. His Origins

Undertaker Brother Love

There are a couple of things about The Undertaker’s early run that have essentially been lost to time. One of those is his original manager.

Through retrospectives and commentaries, WWE makes it seem that the man was brought into the company by the diabolical Paul Bearer, and together, they waged war upon the living for years. It's hard to imagine the two without each other. However, it was initially the red-faced goofball Brother Love who was guiding The Dead Man's career.

It was a bad fit, as Love's silly, over-the-top preacher act didn't fit in with the silent killer. Luckily Vince McMahon saw the error of his ways and brought in the former Percy Pringle to play the ghoulish Bearer. Even though they’ve turned on each other multiple times throughout their careers, they established quite the bond that has transcended even death.

Taker didn't just lose his original manager in his early run, he also lost his first name! Upon his debut he was actually introduced as "Kane" The Undertaker.

However, Kane was not long for this world and was soon dropped in favor of just "The" Undertaker. Seven years later, either someone in WWE creative forgot that Taker had been given that name, or thought it would be a fun Easter egg for fans to bring back, as they gave his storyline brother that moniker, which he’s proudly worn since 1997.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
